Gleanings from Australian Verse

Gleanings from Australian Verse

Manuscript book of seventeen illuminated poems by Australian authors. Father Leo Hayes commissioned the book from artist Ella Lilian Pedersen, who, in addition to illuminating and hand-lettering the poems, crafted a tooled leather binding inset with semi-precious gems from Father Hayes' collection. The original cover was damaged, and restored with the remaining gemstone by bookbinder Anne Cloonan.
